Obelus, the project of Jason Goessl and Adam Pessl, began in 2002 as electronic improvisation via midi guitar and midi drums. After rediscovering an ambient track recorded in secluded ranch outside of Big Sky, Montana, the pair decided to construct an entire electro-acoustic ambient record. Montana will be a vinyl only release through Seattle/NY label Conduit Records. This limited pressing on green vinyl features artwork by Fixelplix (aka Jerry Abstract) and will be available at the show and your local record store.
As opposed to a majority of electronic musicians, the Seattle duo have always put a heavy emphasis on presenting their electronic music as live as possible during performances, even with their fully composed work. The record release show will not only consist of live versions of tracks off of Montana, but will also include Obelus' own unique versions of IDM, breakbeat, and a few electro tracks with Seattle vocalist and Obelus collaborator Caitlin Sherman.
